Honorary award for contribution in the sphere of economics of the Municipality of Gorna Oryahovitsa was received by eng. Georgi Uzunov – Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Zaharni Zavodi JSC and eng. Rusi Danev – member of the Supervisory Board. On the occasion of the award, the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev and the first lady Mrs. Desislava Radeva visited the company in Gorna Oryahovitsa. The President congratulated the winners of the prize and get acquainted with the production process of the emblematic brands of sweets, the capacities of the plant and the contribution of the company to the development of the economy in the region.
ZAHARNI ZAVODI is the largest food production complex in Bulgaria. Located on an area of 550 decares, the company includes in its portfolio production and trade with sugar, confectionery, ethyl alcohol, high protein feed, packaging, repairing-mechanical services, its own thermal power plant.
“We believe in the future of the Bulgarian industry and develop it. That is why during the last 16 years, we have invested 96 million leva in ZAHARNI ZAVODI. We have modernized the main production lines. We have built completely new production facilities in some divisions. We bought new machines. We have implemented international quality standards. We are working on improving the working environment.” said Georgi Uzunov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Zaharni Zavodi AD.

ZAHARNI ZAVODI is the only sugar producer in Bulgaria. The market share of the company in 2016 is 35%. The company is the largest producer of turkish delight, hard and soft sweets, khalva. The company is one of the oldest producers of ethyl alcohol in Bulgaria. 85% of sales of ethanol are for export.
Zaharni Zavodi JSC was founded in 1912. It is a private public company of the holding type, registered on the Sofia Stock Exchange. The company’s revenue for the year 2016 amounted to 155, 6 million leva.
